Prof. Dr. Azize Nilgün Canel graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance. She continued her master’s studies at the same university. She completed her doctoral studies at Marmara University by working on a topic related to the family. She started her academic life as a scientist in the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department of Istanbul University.
Currently, she continues her work as a professor at the Faculty of Educational Sciences of Marmara University. Canel, who received an Associate’s degree in the field of family conflicts, is the author of various books on couples and families. She actively participated in the preparation of the Anti-Addiction Program in Turkey, in the Family Education Program prepared for the Ministry of Family and Social Services of Turkey, as well as in the “Marriage and Family Life” and “Family Life Skills” programs. She has various trainings in Couple and Family Therapies, Marriage Counseling, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in Couples Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy.
Currently, she teaches various subjects such as couple and family counseling, psychotherapy, postmodern and short-term solution-oriented therapy, creative thinking, and creative counseling at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels at Marmara University. She participated in local and international congresses and authored many research papers, articles, and books.
